SHOOT FOR IT

ROLE

Co-Designer, Engineer, Artist, and Voice Over

DESCRIPTION

In this 2.5D third-person game, players step into the life of a high school student from a traditional Chinese household. Upon returning home with a 93% test score, he faces his mother's ire, resulting in a punishment where his sneakers are confiscated and prohibited from attending his basketball competition tonight.  Devastated, he was then informed by his friend on the team that his crush is planning to watch the competition and thus made a daring decision – to retrieve his sneakers and sneak out of the house unnoticed by his mother and younger sister in order to attend this competition.

Project completed over the course of four weeks along with two other developers. All the dialogues in Shoot For It are fully voiced in Chinese with English subtitles for the more immersive and realistic experience.

I was the main designer, programmer, and artist in this project. Upon deciding on the core game mechanics with my co-developers, I worked on designing the flow of the level, the map (XiaoMing's house), the dialogue systems, and illustrating the majority of 2D art assets including cutscene animations. I then programmed the scene changes and dialogue triggers using the Scene Loader and C# script in Unity, followed by a substantial amount of bug fixes.

I voiced over XiaoMing's Mom in this game.
